Gallery Weekend Beijing 2020 To Officially Open on 22 May 2020
15 MARCH 2020-Gallery Weekend Beijing announces new dates for its 2020 edition, with a program for VIP and arts professionals taking place from 22 – 24 May, followed by a public program running from 26 - 31 May 2020.
In view of the recent developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, Gallery Weekend Beijing recently postponed the 2020 edition of the program from its regular timing in March this year. Taking careful consideration on how best to resume collaborations with partnering institutions and organizations at this time, as well as prioritizing the health and safety of all guests, employees, participants and visitors, the event is now confirmed to open on 22 May 2020. GWBJ 2020 will take place across three VIP days from 22 to 24 May, and six public days running from 26 to 31 May 2020. (Exhibitions and programs will be closed on Monday 25 May 2020).
Further information on GWBJ 2020 will be announced soon, including ways for members of the public to enjoy the events, talks and exhibitions via remote digital access if they are unable to attend the events in Beijing this year. Content will also continue to be shared via the GWBJ official social media platforms. Recruitment of interns and volunteer positions for the 2020 will also soon resume.
Please follow the GWBJ official website, public WeChat account, Weibo, and other official social media platforms to receive timely information.
“We have been carefully observing the health crisis brought on by the COVID-19 outbreak, and our dedicated team has spent a significant amount of time developing new ways to approach our programming despite the challenges that face us. We are deeply grateful for our participating galleries and institutions, partners and friends all over the world who have been constantly sharing insights, suggestions and support over the past few weeks. GWBJ is committed to presenting the most compelling exhibitions and events in Beijing, and in response to the falling number of new cases of COVID-19 recorded in China, we have decided to move our event to late May this year. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Beijing this coming May and we sincerely hope to contribute to the revival of the arts community in China at this time. For all of our international audiences that may not be able to join us in person this year, we will be sharing as much as possible via our online platforms and we look forward to welcoming you again at future editions of GWBJ” said Amber Yifei Wang, Director of Gallery Weekend Beijing
